Looking for a Spatial alternative? Build 3D worlds in your browser

Spatial's creator platform shuts down on July 27, 2026. The galleries, showrooms, classrooms, and worlds its creators spent years curating go dark with it.

If one of them is yours, that stings. But the magic was never the platform. It was you, making places. And that part does not shut down.

anitya runs in your browser. There is nothing to install, and visitors can play from a link without an account.

What you had. What it becomes.

This is not a feature checklist written by marketing. It is an honest map from the things Spatial did well to how they work in anitya.

In Spatial In anitya
Custom spaces meant the Unity Creator Toolkit: a Unity project, an export pipeline, and publishing steps. Describe your world in words and watch it appear, then refine it with drag and drop. No Unity project, toolchain, or publish queue.
Sharing a space as a link that opens in the browser. The best part of Spatial. You do not have to give that up. Every anitya World is a link too. It opens in the browser, and visitors do not need an account.
Environments and art built as your own 3D files, uploaded through the pipeline. Your models are still yours, and they still work. Export them as GLB from Unity or Blender and import them straight into anitya.
Galleries, exhibitions, and branded showrooms curated piece by piece. Build the space around your work in minutes. Prompt the room, place your pieces by drag and drop, and send one link to your audience.
Unity-grade rendering and years of polish on lighting and avatars. Where Spatial was ahead: anitya is younger, and it shows in places. Interactions and polish are improving every week, but we would rather tell you that straight than oversell you twice.

The question you are actually asking: will this one last?

You have every right to ask.

You have watched this movie before. AltspaceVR closed in 2023. Mozilla walked away from Hubs in 2024. Rec Room shut down in June 2026 after 150 million players. Now Spatial, which pivoted from AR headsets to web spaces to gaming, is sunsetting the platform its creators built on.

If you have been burned before, skepticism is the sane response.

We will not insult you with a promise that nothing can ever change. Here is what we can tell you instead: anitya is built by the team behind Godot, the open source engine that has outlived nearly every platform on this page and only grown stronger for over a decade. Same people. Same philosophy: creation should not depend on one company's runway.

And it is written down. The Creator Covenant is our public pledge: your name travels with your work, you can leave any time and take your worlds, your audience, and your name with you, and the shared asset library is being moved into a creator-owned body separate from the company.

A platform you cannot leave is a cage that happens to be comfortable.

Built browser first, on purpose

Spatial understood something real: a world should open from a link, not an installer. anitya is built on the same conviction, all the way down. It is lighter to serve, instant to join, and the same link works on desktop, phone, and VR.

You will be early here. Early means rough edges sometimes, and it also means the people who arrive now shape what this becomes.

From nothing to a shared world in minutes

1. Prompt it

Type what you imagine, a gallery, a showroom, or a rooftop at sunset, and watch anitya build it in front of you.

2. Refine it

If it needs a touch, drag, drop, move, and place. Import your own GLB models from Unity exports or Blender.

3. Publish it

Your World goes live in the feed, where people can scroll and step inside, and gets a link you can send anywhere. You need a free account to publish. Your visitors never need one.

Quick answers

Is Spatial really shutting down?

Spatial announced that its creator platform sunsets on July 27, 2026. After that date, creator-built spaces are no longer accessible on Spatial. The company is moving in a different direction, and the platform its creators built on is closing.

Can I bring my Spatial spaces over?

There is no one-click import of a Spatial space, and we will not pretend otherwise. But unlike most shutdowns, your source assets are yours. If you built your environments or art in Unity or Blender, export them as GLB and import them straight into anitya. Then rebuild the layout by hand, or prompt the space and refine it.

Is anitya free?

It is free to start. You can step into Worlds from a link without an account. Creating and publishing your own takes a free account.

Do I need a VR headset?

No. anitya is browser first. The same World link opens on desktop, phone, and VR.

Is anitya ready to use today?

Yes. anitya is live now in open beta and improving weekly. The beta tag means what it says: rough edges, actively being fixed. There is no relaunch to wait for. You can step into Worlds and build today, and arriving now means you are one of the first ones in.

You built once. Build again.

Your next world takes minutes to start, and it is one link away from your audience.
